Frizz-free hair: a simple routine and the products that fit each step
Frizz usually comes from dry hair pulling moisture from the air. A routine works better than a single product: wash gently, condition, protect before heat, then seal. You do not need every step every day. This guide describes what each product is made for, based on the makers' descriptions, not our own lab tests.
Based on listed specifications, not hands-on tests. Links are partner links.
1. Gentle wash
Native shampoo and conditioner
Sulfate-free shampoo cleans without stripping as much moisture, and the pack includes a matching conditioner.
2. Smoothing conditioner
Virtue Smooth conditioner
Made specifically for frizz and curls, and colour-safe if your hair is dyed. A premium option if the basic conditioner is not enough.
3. Detangle
OUAI leave-in conditioner
A leave-in spray on damp hair makes combing easier, and less pulling means less breakage and fewer flyaways.
4. Protect before heat
Biotech Blowout leave-in hair mask
Listed with heat protection up to 232°C, so it fits blow-dry days. The small 50 ml size is easy to travel with.
5. Humidity shield
COLOR WOW Dream Coat Supernatural Spray
Applied before blow-drying, it is made to keep hair smooth in humid weather. The maker says one use lasts 3 to 4 washes.
6. Finish and shine
Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil
A few drops on the ends add shine and tame flyaways. Use very little on fine hair so it does not look greasy.
Which one to choose
Start simple: a sulfate-free wash, a conditioner and one leave-in. If you blow-dry or straighten, add heat protection. The humidity spray and the oil are the extras for bad-weather days.
